All 41 miners trapped under rubble following a Ukrainian attack on the Belorechensk coal mine in the Russian-controlled Luhansk region have been evacuated and are safe, a Russian official said Monday.
Leonid Pasechnik, the Moscow-appointed head of the region, said power to the mine had been restored and workers had been brought to the surface.
He added that none of the miners were injured and no one required medical attention.
Earlier, Pasechnik said the Ukrainian strike damaged a substation supplying the mine with electricity, leaving workers trapped underground while rescue efforts were carried out.
Kyiv has not yet commented on the incident.
